‘Just the people he fought, the people he beat, and the fashion he beat them’ – Dillian Whyte believes Lennox Lewis is the greatest British heavyweight boxer of all time
Lennox Lewis holds a famous win over Mike Tyson.
Dillian Whyte is just a fortnight away from his rematch against Alexander Povetkin. The fight will be taking place in Gibraltar, which will probably be the ‘second-biggest’ heavyweight boxing fight this year (Obviously! Behind AJ vs Fury!).
Speaking in a recent interview with SkySports, Whyte revealed that former British heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis is the best ever British heavyweight according to him, even ahead of the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. He went on to speak of how Lennox Lewis destroyed highly regarded boxers in seconds.
‘He came back from his two defeats and won both the rematches and how long he reigned‘
Dillian Whyte was quoted as saying, “Lennox Lewis. Just the people he fought, the people he beat, and the fashion he beat them. He came back from his two defeats and won both the rematches and how long he reigned. There was a period in time when no one could touch him.” [via SkySports]
He continued, “He was destroying dangerous guys. Destroying them in seconds. Just the way he fought, his fighting style and his aggression. He destroyed Andrew Golota, Michael Grant and Razor Ruddock; came from behind to beat Frank Bruno and Vitali Klitschko; beating Gary Mason, Oliver McCall, David Tua, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Shannon Briggs, Tommy Morrison and Zeljko Mavrovic. The list goes on and on.” [via SkySports]
What are your thoughts on this? Is Whyte right in picking Lennox Lewis over the undefeated Tyson Fury ?
