‘I’m getting way better and it’s scary to me because I got another level’ – Tyron Woodley speaks out ahead of fight against Vicente Luque
Woodley faces Luque in the co-main event of UFC 260.
Tyron Woodley will be back in action this week against Vicente Luque in the co-main event of UFC 260. The number 7 ranked welterweight contender, despite being 38 years old, feels there is still a lot left in him. A win here might probably even propel him into the top 5 of the welterweight rankings.
Speaking in an interview with Ariel Helwani in Helwani’s MMA Show, Woodley revealed that he is currently on a different level, and would go nowhere when asked by Ariel if he would walk away from the sport if he wins this fight against Luque.
‘I had my best day on the last day‘ – Tyron Woodley
Woodley said, “I don’t think so. I’m getting way better and it’s scary to me because I got another level…My last day of training I exceeded everything, every training session, every rep. I had my best day on the last day…I got another level and many people saying I got another gear and all my coaches agreeable on it, I want to tap into that level.” [H/T LowBro-Sports]
Tyron Woodley is currently stuck in a rut, he is coming off three consecutive losses, with his most recent one coming against Colby Covington in September 2020. He lost the match via. TKO in the fifth round, due to a rib injury. The former welterweight champion will be backing his striking power come 27th of March.
Luque, on the other hand, is on a two-match win streak, with his last victory coming over Randy Brown in August 2020. The American-born Brazilian has never been finished in his career and Woodley would be wary of that.
