Lens pulls off a comeback win, putting the title pressure back on PSG

Lens moved within three points of Paris-Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1 title race with a 2-1 win over Reims on Friday.

Lens also consolidated their prospects of qualifying directly for the Champions League in front of a sold-out crowd, leapfrogging thor-placed Marseille, who they overtook with another 2-1 win last week.

PSG leads the table with 78 points heading into Saturday’s home game against struggling Ajaccio.

Having played one more game, Lens has 75 points, while Marseille has 70 points before facing Angers on Sunday.

After being reduced to 10 men in the 19th minute for a straight red card when Kevin Danso pushed Folarain Balogun, the striker pulled himself up to take the next penalty and make it 1-0 to the visitors.

Lens responded with a penalty kick in the 39th minute from Przemyslaw Frankowski, a Polish midfielder who hasn’t missed a penalty all season.

The winning captain Seko Fofana of Ivory Coast then supplied the goal, outrunning two players and scored from 25 yards in the 54th minute.
