Modric doubtful for the Copa final, UCL semifinal 1st leg due to Injury

Real Madrid announced on Friday that Luka Modric has “an injury to the back of his left thigh,” raising questions about whether he would be able to play against Manchester City in their Champions League semi-final first-leg match.

The 37-year-old Croatian star will be out for ten days, according to Spanish media, although the Real statement released no other information.

May 6 sees the conclusion of the Spanish Cup, while May 9 sees the start of the Champions League semifinal against the English Champions in Madrid.

In the 63rd minute of Tuesday’s La Liga match between Real and Girona, Modric was replaced by French international midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

At a press conference on Friday, coach Carlo Ancelotti stated, “He had a minor injury in Girona and is unavailable.”

“We’re waiting to see how he progresses and I don’t know if he will make the cup final.

“Let’s hope we have him back for the remaining games, which is important”

Prior to playing Osasuna in the Spanish Cup final in Seville, Real plays Almeria in La Liga on Saturday and then travels to Real Sociedad on Tuesday.
