Just a week ago, SkySports reported that there was a mystery man threatening the heavyweight division. Just a week later, Christopher Lovejoy, the mystery man has announced his retirement. With a record of 19-0 and all 19 victories being KOs, Lovejoy has decided to hang up his gloves.

Taking to social media, Lovejoy posted a video announcing his retirement, stating a lack of support and the huge money involved in the sport.

‘IM SORRY I LET YALL DOWN, THE HATERS WON, YALL DID THAT’

Posting the video, he captioned the post on Instagram, “BOXING HAS BEEN GREAT, I GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS ONE OF THE ONLY HEAVYWEIGHTS TO RETIRE UNDEFEATED! AND THE FIRST EVER UNDEFEATED HEAVYWEIGHT TO RETIRE WITH A 100 PERCENT KO RATIO WITH ATLEAST 15 WINS! 8X @wbaboxingofficial RANKED, 12X @ibfusbaboxing RANKED. MY HATERS, I KNOW I MADE YALL HAPPY, TO MY SUPPORTERS IM SORRY I LET YALL DOWN, THE HATERS WON, YALL DID THAT!!

He can also be heard saying in the video, “I ain’t got the money to fight this thing. Imma back out. I tap out. I retire. I never really had a real team. nobody really helped me have my back. Came in the thing on my own, this is where it got me.”

Well, that escalated quickly. Just when a lot of people began noticing Lovejoy, he decides to announce his retirement. Although the 37-year-old hasn’t fought an elite heavyweight and having fought only in Mexico, he still could have been a force to reckon with. It is just sad to see him leave, just like that!
