‘This 10-8 sh*t is outta control right now’ – Dana White claims there was no 10-8 round in the Adesanya vs Blachowicz fight

Two of the judges scored the contest 49-45 in favour of Jan Blachowicz.

Jan Blachowicz, Herb Dean and Israel Adesanya at UFC 259

Jan Blachowicz stole the show in the main event of UFC 259. Although, the fight didn’t feature both the fighters going hammer and tongs at each other, it did impress in parts. Blachowicz handed Israel Adesanya the first ever loss in his professional MMA career, as he won via. unanimous decision. Two of the three judges scored the contest 49-45, which created some flutters in the MMA community. There were quite a few people who disagreed with that score, and UFC President Dana White was one among them.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Dana White expressed his displeasure at the judges’ scoring. He claimed that 10-8s are given only when a fighter completely outclasses the other, in any given round. He also stated that there was absolutely no 10-8 in this fight.

They gotta stop giving this

An amused White was quoted as saying, “The scoring is insane. These guys are giving out 10-8 rounds …There were two rounds in that fight that they gave a 10-8. When I came up into the fight business, a 10-8 is an a** whooping. You got your a** whooped. You didn’t do sh*t in that round and got beat down if it was a 10-8. They gotta stop giving this. This 10-8 sh*t is outta control right now, so hopefully, we can get this fixed and they are gonna screw up a lot of fights there. They’re handing out 10-8s like that. There was no 10-8 in that fight.

Dana White, may be right! Blachowicz clearly won the last two rounds, but he didn’t thoroughly dominate Adesanya. Adesanya had it going his way, in the fourth and fifth round, before Blachowicz took him down in both the rounds. What are your thoughts on this? Were the judges right in scoring two rounds 10-8?
