Daniel Cormier feels there is no need for Jon Jones vs Israel Adesanya to happen!

Adesanya struggled against a heavier and bigger opponent in Jan Blachowicz, at UFC 259.

Israel Adesanya’s light-heavyweight debut didn’t go as planned, as he succumbed to a unanimous decision defeat against light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259. The ‘Last Stylebender’ didn’t look in his usual dominating self, as he was out-wrestled in the ending rounds by the Super Pole.

With Adesanya clearly struggling to outpower a bigger opponent like Jan, many were left wondering how he would have fared if he had taken on his foe Jon Jones, who is now a ‘heavyweight’. Speaking about this in the recent episode of DC & Helwani MMA Show, Daniel Cormier revealed that Adesanya would have clearly struggled against Jon Jones, just because of Jon’s size alone. He also felt that there was no need for the match to happen.

Today, after watching last Saturday, I believe Jones would be too big for him

DC was quoted as saying, “Watching Israel Adesanya do what he did at middleweight makes you believe he could go with anybody, and because of the skillset, you think he can beat a Jones. Today, after watching last Saturday, I believe Jones would be too big for him…That fight, for as much intrigue as there was, for me, it doesn’t really need to happen.”

Well, DC might be right in a way. We saw how Adesanya struggled to get back to his feet (in fact he never got up) after being grounded by Blachowicz in the final rounds. But, it might have even been a bad day at the office for Israel Adesanya, just as he mentioned in the post-fight interview.
