Man City joins the Bellingham pursuit alongside Madrid
Despite competition for the talented midfielder, Real Madrid appears to be in the driver’s seat in the fight to recruit Jude Bellingham.
Madrid has yet to reach a contract with the sought-after 19-year-old, as representatives will visit Germany in a few days for negotiations.
On the other hand, Manchester City remains in the chase, despite claims in Spain that the Premier League leaders had pulled out of the race.
According to reports, City executives are skeptical that Real Madrid and Dortmund can agree on a transfer deal.
Last week, it was reported that Real Madrid was close to completing an agreement for the Bellingham, but the Spanish club has apparently struggled to seal the deal.
Madrid officials are now optimistic that they will make greater headway on a deal to sign Bellingham when they meet with Dortmund “face-to-face.”
This season, Bellingham has seven goals in 30 Bundesliga games and has established himself as an important member of Gareth Southgate’s England side.
A successful offer for Bellingham is estimated to cost far more than €100 million.
His possible transfer at the Santiago Bernabeu would aid Real Madrid’s efforts to rejuvenate their midfield, with aging stars like Lika Modric and Toni Kroos nearing the conclusion of their individual careers. In recent years, Madrid has brought in promising midfielders such as Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.
