Michael Hunter believes Dillian Whyte would succumb to Alexander Povetkin again!

Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin face off in a rematch at Gibraltar in a few days.

Dillian Whyte will be looking forward to avenging his knockout loss, as he takes on Alexander Povetkin in a rematch, on the 27th of March. Whyte made a brilliant start to the fight, the last time the pair met. He even knocked down Alexander Povetkin twice in the early rounds, but Povetkin came back strongly landing a vicious uppercut in the fifth round, knocking Whyte out cold.

Speaking about this in an interview with SkySports, Povetkin’s former opponent Michael Hunter who played out a draw against the Russian, back in 2019, claimed that Povetkin would do a repeat of the first fight. He believes Povetkin’s experience would triumph over the youth and skills of Dillian Whyte.

I think that it’s going to be a repeat‘ – Michael Hunter

Michael Hunter was quoted as saying, “I think that it’s going to be a repeat. It’s going to be very similar to the first fight. Povetkin always gets to his man at some point and Dillian Whyte always gets hit at some point in all of his fights, so I think it’s going to be a very similar outcome. It could go either way, but I just think the experience [of Povetkin] is going to outweigh Whyte’s youth and skills.” [via SkySports]

Dillian Whyte would be wary of the mistakes he committed last time, especially failing to capitalize on the fourth round knockdown on a groggy Povetkin. Meanwhile, Povetkin who has completely recovered from the coronavirus, will be looking forward to doing exactly the same (as what he did on the 22nd of August 2020).

As for Michael Hunter – The American is expected to face Filip Hrgovic in a final eliminator for the IBF title, with the date and the venue yet to be announced.
