Reus extends his contract with Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund, the league’s front-runner, confirmed on Thursday that Marco Reus’ contract had been extended by one year, through the summer of 2024.
The contract of the two-time German Footballer of the Year was due to expire at the conclusion of this campaign.
The all-time record held by Adi Pressler between 1946 and 1959 is 16 goals short of Reus’ 161 goals for Dortmund, who is 33.
Reus joined Dortmund from Moenchengadbach immediately following the 2012 championship, and the two German Cups he has won with Dortmund are his only club triumphs.
“I’m happy to have extended my contract my contract for another year,I always said I would prefer not to play for another club in my career than Dortmund”.
Reus, who will be 35 when the extended contract expires, has frequently expressed his desire to finish his career with Dortmund.
“Marco is of enormous importance for this club, our fans, and the city, but also beyond the borders of our fans across the world,” said sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
