Sheikh Jassim proposes almost £5 billion to buy Manchester United outright
The newest wave of offers to purchase Manchester United was led by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, who offered £5 billion and promised to invest in the club’s infrastructure, according to the BBC.
To unseat United’s current owners, the Glazer family, the Qatari banker submitted his offer shortly before the third deadline.
The INEOS group, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has also made a fresh offer as per information, but it does not aim to acquire the entire club. According to insider reports, the deadline didn’t apply to consortiums looking to purchase a small part of the club.
It has been reported that the Glazers are utilizing the three rounds of bidding to raise the club’s value rather than selling it. Since 2005, they have owned Manchester United, and fans find them to be incredibly unpopular. Based on records, the Glazers received the majority of the £33.6 million in dividends that were paid out of the club in 2021–22.
