‘A fight with Katie Taylor is definitely a possibility’ – Claressa Shields’s promoter Dmitry Salita on Claressa’s next opponent!
Claressa Shields beat Marie-Eve Dicaire recently to become an undisputed champion in two weight divisions.
Claressa Shields defeated Marie-Eve Dicaire on the 5th of March, to become the first four-belt champion in two weight divisions. The dominant American is currently 11-0 in her professional boxing career and looks to be going from strength to strength after each fight. She has also called herself the GWOAT (Greatest Woman of All Time), and it looks like she might very well be on her way to becoming one.
Although she still has a long way to go before establishing herself as the ‘GWOAT’, she seems interested in fighting current undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor. Her promoter Dmitry Salita, speaking in an interview with SkySports revealed that a fight with Katie Taylor ‘is definitely a possibility, and it was up to Katie to decide on the same.
‘It would be another mega event for women’s boxing‘
Salita was quoted as saying, “From the beginning of her career, Claressa told me to make the biggest and best fights. She means what she says and says what she means. A fight with Katie Taylor is definitely a possibility. Katie is a very good fighter for whom I have a lot of respect for inside and outside the ring. The ball is in her court if she wants to do it. It would be another mega event for women’s boxing.” [via SkySports]
There is no stopping Claressa Shields, right now. She hasn’t slowed down ever since she made her debut, back in 2016. Can the indomitable Katie Taylor threaten the potential GWOAT Claressa Shield’s clean record?
