‘I guess you can say he is a true loser’ – Kevin Holland trolls Israel Adesanya ahead of his fight against Derek Brunson

Israel Adesanya suffered his first career loss against Jan Blachowicz at the recently concluded UFC 259.

Kevin Holland is just a couple of days away from his main event clash against Derek Brunson. The number 10 ranked middleweight contender had a stellar 2020, raking up five wins (without a single loss). He has been climbing the middleweight division ladder really quick of late and a win against the higher-ranked Brunson (number 7) will propel him further up in the rankings.

Speaking at the UFC Fight Night media day, Kevin Holland spoke about middleweight champion Israel Adesanya’s recent loss against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259, wherein Adesanya made his light-heavyweight debut. He took a cheeky dig at Adesanya, calling him a true loser, since he has at least one loss in the various combat sports he has taken part (MMA, Kickboxing, Boxing).

He got beat in the striking aspect, he got beat in the grappling aspect, he got beat!

Kevin Holland was quoted as saying, “I think that he said he didn’t try and put on weight. But I think that he put on weight. He came in at 200 pounds, I think he did a normal weight cut, which was smart. It is a smart thing to do. Take it how you would normally would take it right. He looked a little slower than he normally does, usually, he is faster than that. He didn’t look as fast he normally does. He got beat in the striking aspect, he got beat in the grappling aspect, he got beat!” [H/T LowBro-Sports]

He continued, “Is there any other fighter right now, that has done just about every combat sport and lost in every combat sport? Is there? So, I guess you can say he is a true loser.” [H/T LowBro-Sports]

Given the way Kevin Holland has been surging in the UFC, we might very well see him fighting top ranked contenders soon. If ‘The Trailblazer’ manages to keep his juggernaut rolling, he might even end up facing the middleweight king – Israel Adesanya!
